The video game Dagon: by H. P. Lovecraft, created by Polish designer Bit Golem, has raised over $50,000 in donations for aid groups assisting Ukraine, including the Polish Red Cross and Save the Children. The game was initially launched as a free narrative experiment in 2021 and gained significant success.

In light of the war in Ukraine that followed, Bit Golem introduced several pieces of downloadable content for a small fee. These add-ons allowed gamers to support Ukraine’s humanitarian efforts, resulting in total donations of $50,000.

Bit Golem expressed appreciation to players across the globe who contributed towards this cause. They also announced that the three downloadable pieces of content remain available as a bundle for $12.00, with all proceeds going to the aid organizations.

The game is a visual novel inspired by the works of American sci-fi author H.P. Lovecraft, with limited gameplay beyond reading excerpts from Lovecraft’s novella. It has been downloaded by 1.7 million people and received positive reviews on the Steam gaming platform.

A reviewer described the game as an immersive journey filled with eldritch mysteries and unimaginable horrors, making it a must-play for horror and interactive storytelling enthusiasts. The storyline is based on Lovecraft’s fictional mythology of the Old God, Cthulu, a massive creature sleeping beneath the sea.
